I'm In Business!
For the past 4 years, my main focus has been to become an independent jeweler selling my work from home. That's been the dream and tonight my dream came true. When I first realized in 2014 that I wanted to become a jeweler, I knew that I wanted to work for myself. While I love working with others and receive so much inspiration from my fellow jewelers, I'm a pretty independent worker and am most at peace when I spend hours on end in my studio with no distractions. So, I knew that if I was going to be a jeweler I wanted to 1.) create my own designs 2.) create my own flexible hours and 3.) work from home.
Since graduating this past December, I've had a lot of time to turn that dream into a reality. I set up my own home studio in a corner of my family room because that's all the space my husband and I could afford to give up. Then I went about creating dozens of pieces of jewelry that reflect my skills, my style and what I believe other women are looking for. That was the fun part. But as any other artist, jeweler or business owner knows, there is so much more to selling your work than just making it. I had to create a website, apply for a federal tax ID, a state tax ID, set up a business account at my bank and then figure out how on earth I was actually going to be able to ship to everyone. Now I can happily say though that everything is ready to roll! With that in mind though, should you run into any technical issues don't be afraid to let me know. I'm figuring this out with you so thank you in advance for your patience!
I could not have make this business a possibility without so much help from others so I wanted to say a quick thank you to a few people. My professors at GVSU (Beverly Seley, Renee Zettle-Sterling and Robyn Kane) who have helped mold me into the jeweler I am today. I literally would not be where I am without them. I also want to thank Lisa Lehmann. She is such an incredible jeweler, woman and role model. She has taught me so much about what it is to be a jeweler and a business owner and I am so grateful for all the help she has given me over the years. And finally, I want to thank my husband, Wyatt. He has always been my biggest supporter and cheerleader and doesn't complain when I hammer and make noise for hours on end. He has always encouraged my visions and I will forever be grateful for that.
So. Thank you so much for viewing my work and a special thanks to those who wish to purchase my pieces. I am so honored! You are all making my dream come true. My clients are my first priority and I will do everything in my power to make your experience working with me a happy one.
